Home Renovation Savings™
Home Renovation Savings is an Ontario-wide rebate program from Enbridge Gas and Save on Energy, delivered with support from the Ontario Government, to help homeowners cut energy costs with efficiency upgrades — insulation chief among them. Homeowners can choose a single upgrade with no assessment required, or bundle upgrades for a larger combined rebate.
Insulation Rebates
Insulation is one of the program's biggest incentives, worth up to $7,700 when bundled with other upgrades:
- Attic insulation: up to $1,500 (bundled) or $1,250 (standalone, no assessment needed), based on how much your current insulation improves
- Exterior wall insulation: up to $3,600
- Foundation insulation: up to $1,500 for basement walls, $500 for basement slab, $1,200 for crawlspaces
- Exposed floor insulation: up to $300
Other Eligible Upgrades
A standalone attic-only rebate (up to $1,250) requires no energy assessment — just an approved contractor. Wall, foundation, and exposed-floor insulation rebates fall under the "bundled" stream, which asks for a home energy assessment.
- Air sealing: up to $250
- Windows and doors: $100 per rough opening
- Heat pumps: up to $12,000
- Heat pump water heaters: $500
- Solar panels and battery storage: up to $10,000
- Smart thermostats and select appliances: up to $125–$200
How the Two Paths Work
No assessment needed — for single upgrades like standalone attic insulation, heat pumps, or a smart thermostat. Book directly with an approved contractor.
With assessment — for bundled projects (insulation, air sealing, windows/doors, etc.). Requires a home energy assessment (about $600, partly rebated), at least two upgrades, and a follow-up assessment once work is done. Bundling three or more upgrades adds a $500 bonus. Rebates typically arrive 30–60 days after approval.
Who Qualifies
Homeowners (not renters) in single detached or semi-detached homes, row/townhomes, or mobile homes on a permanent foundation, heated by natural gas (Enbridge) or by electricity/propane/oil/wood while connected to Ontario's grid. Homes occupied less than six months (new builds) aren't eligible, and insulation upgrades must bring 100% of the relevant area up to the required R-value. All work must be completed by a program-approved contractor.
